Reflexology has been around for thousands of years and is based on the principle that there are reflex points in the feet and hands which correspond to every part of the body, gland and organ. The belief is that pressure applied to these reflex points affects their corresponding body part, gland and organ, benefiting a person’s health. Improved circulation and blood supply, unblocking of nerve impulses, relief of stress and tension, and the promotion of homeostasis are just a few of the benefits of Reflexology.
Reflexology is used to safely and effectively treat symptoms associated with a variety of dysfunctions and discomforts, including but not limited to:

Cupping, an ancient alternative therapy-is where local suction is created on the skin with the use of glass or plastic jars. Once the suction occurs, the cups can be left on a particular area or can be gently moved across the skin. The belief is that the suction created by the cups mobilizes blood flow to particular areas to promote healing through neovascularization (formation of new blood vessels) and sterile inflammation (none chronic, beneficial inflammation is the first line of healing-white blood cells, platelets, fibroblasts and other healing chemicals are released to stimulate healing).

On May 26, 2020, Directive #2 was amended to support the gradual re-start of all deferred and non-essential and elective services carried out by Health Care Providers (HCPs).
With guidance from our governing bodies and the Ministry of Health and more importantly, to ensure your wellbeing and safety as well as our own, the following will be implemented at VC Therapeutics during this time:
Hand sanitization for anyone entering and exiting our clinic is mandatory. We will have hand sanitizer available at our front desk and in our treatment rooms.
Face masks (disposable or reusable) are mandatory for all patients (and visitors) coming into our clinic.
Our physical space:
Our waiting room will look a little different. We will no longer have chairs, magazines, candy or water available. Reducing the amount of surfaces will hopefully ensure that we reduce the transfer of COVID-19.
Our treatment rooms will also have less objects in them, to ensure the same. Don’t worry, all the essential things needed to provide you with an excellent treatment will be there!
You will see signage posted in the clinic with information on COVID-19 safety protocols-we ask that you abide by them.
Appointments (before, during and after):
The day before your appointment you will receive a reminder email which will now include a link to a basic COVID-19 screening questionnaire-provided by the Ministry of Health. Please fill out and submit the questionnaire the day you receive it (the day before your appointment). For those that we don’t have an email for, we will be doing a call to screen. Depending on your answers we will determine if we can proceed with in-person treatment safely. While we understand that you are eager to be treated, our main focus during this time (besides making you feel wonderful) is to ensure that we do not participate in the spread of COVID-19. We want to make sure we are safe, you are safe and all those that come through our doors are safe. It is for this reason we ask that you answer truthfully when taking the screening questionnaire.
COVID-19 screening will be done for patients for any follow up appointments, until such time we are no longer required to do so. Amanda and I will also fill out the screening questionnaire and assess for symptoms before every work day. If conditions change for you, the patient, or Amanda and I, treatments will be cancelled. At this time, any cancellation fee associated with that will be waived.
The day of your appointment we ask that you wait in your car and we can call or come get you when it’s time for your appointment. We don’t want people waiting in our office waiting area and will bring you into the office once it is time for your treatment.
We will reassess you for symptoms again prior to your appointment and have a consent sheet for you to read over and sign.
We ask that only the person coming for the treatment be here. Adults accompanying minors or those that need assistance are exceptions, however, the accompanying visitor will also be screened prior to the patient’s appointment. They will also need to provide their name and phone number for contact tracing purposes, as per the Ministry of Health. The visitor will also be required to sanitize their hands when entering and exiting our clinic and to wear a disposable or reusable mask.
During your visit Amanda and I will be wearing medical face masks . You may also see us sporting gloves and a face shield.
After your treatment we will meet you at the front desk where we will set up your next appointment and accept payment. We will have our face mask on and ask that you keep yours on as well during this process.
Don’t be alarmed if we follow you out of the clinic, we want to ensure that we wipe down all surfaces touched on the way out for everyone’s safety.
Cleaning protocols:
We will continue to practice our regular cleaning procedures and adding enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols for safety. This means that highly touched surface areas (including, but not limited to, chairs/stools, light switches, door knobs, desk tops, debit machine, treatment room equipment) will be cleaned and disinfected in-between each patient visit as well as at the start and end of each work day. All linens used, as usual, will be laundered after every use.
We understand that these are unprecedented times and while we are slowly starting to get back to some semblance of normalcy, we proceed with caution. While we will do our very best to implement all protocols set out by our governing bodies as well as the Ministry of Health to ensure our space is safe, we all have to be mindful that COVID-19 is still around and there are risks associated with that. If we feel like the risk of a treatment to you outweighs the benefits, we will not proceed with the treatment. Your safety, as well as ours and our families, and that of everyone we see is very important to us and we won’t risk that.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
