At VC Therapeutics we take a multidisciplinary hands-on approach to rehabilitation and healing, incorporating both conventional and alternative therapies.
With more than 17 years of combined experience our therapists offer individualized one-on-one treatments, addressing and meeting specific needs and health goals.
We also strive to increase awareness and prevention of injury and dysfunction through patient education.
Today our lives are stressful. Full of to and fro, here to there and this done by that time. Take a moment and embark on a journey of relaxation. Our professional RMT, Mirabela, will help you escape the demands and stresses of every day life.
Injuries happen; the world is not always so kind. However, our physiotherapist, Amanda, will have you on the road to recovery. You show resilience in every day life, so let us help you regrow.
Mirabela (aka Bela) graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2008. She is a member in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. Since graduating she has worked in a variety of settings, including multi-disciplinary clinics and spas and with a variety of patients, from athletes, elderly, children and everyone in between.
She is passionate about Massage Therapy and believes that it is a great tool in treating acute to chronic conditions and it is amazing for preventative health. Being proactive as opposed to reactive, when it comes to your health, is an easy way to reduce your stress and decrease your risk of injury. This way you can be at your best for both work and play.
Mirabela supports and encourages the use of multiple treatment modalities for the management of stress and facilitated healing and as such offers Acupuncture and Reflexology.
Amanda received her undergraduate degree from Wilfred Laurier University with distinction in Kinesiology in 2003 and her Masters of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2005. She is a member in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
Amanda has worked for over 10 years in the orthopaedic clinic setting, which has involved rehabilitation and treatment of work and sports injuries, injuries related to motor vehicle accidents, TMJ problems, arthritis and joint issues and a variety of soft tissue injuries. She also has extensive experience working with pre/post-surgical patients, minor neurological conditions, as well as with creating work conditioning and core strengthening programs.
Amanda has continued her education in orthopaedic manual therapy, acupuncture, concussion management, Kinesio taping, Reflexology and has trained with the Jenings Training Centre in full body myofascial release techniques. Through her prior volunteer work as a student trainer for the WLU varsity football team, as a provincial and varsity figure skater and figure skating coach, and in a variety of onsite positions as a Physiotherapist on the sports field, such as at the Canadian Junior Men’s Fastball Championships, she has gained an extensive knowledge and experience in sports rehabilitation and sports taping.
Let her use her experience and skills to help you prevent and rehabilitate from injury. Everyone deserves the right to work and play pain free!
Whether you work in an office, on the road, or outside in Waterloo Region, massage therapy can play an important role in headache relief. Working with a Registered Massage Therapist, like Mirabela Candale, is a great way to reduce headaches.
On May 26, 2020, Directive #2 was amended to support the gradual re-start of all deferred and non-essential and elective services carried out by Health Care Providers (HCPs).
With guidance from our governing bodies and the Ministry of Health and more importantly, to ensure your wellbeing and safety as well as our own, the following will be implemented at VC Therapeutics during this time:
Hand sanitization for anyone entering and exiting our clinic is mandatory. We will have hand sanitizer available at our front desk and in our treatment rooms.
Face masks (disposable or reusable) are mandatory for all patients (and visitors) coming into our clinic.
Our physical space:
Our waiting room will look a little different. We will no longer have chairs, magazines, candy or water available. Reducing the amount of surfaces will hopefully ensure that we reduce the transfer of COVID-19.
Our treatment rooms will also have less objects in them, to ensure the same. Don’t worry, all the essential things needed to provide you with an excellent treatment will be there!
You will see signage posted in the clinic with information on COVID-19 safety protocols-we ask that you abide by them.
Appointments (before, during and after):
The day before your appointment you will receive a reminder email which will now include a link to a basic COVID-19 screening questionnaire-provided by the Ministry of Health. Please fill out and submit the questionnaire the day you receive it (the day before your appointment). For those that we don’t have an email for, we will be doing a call to screen. Depending on your answers we will determine if we can proceed with in-person treatment safely. While we understand that you are eager to be treated, our main focus during this time (besides making you feel wonderful) is to ensure that we do not participate in the spread of COVID-19. We want to make sure we are safe, you are safe and all those that come through our doors are safe. It is for this reason we ask that you answer truthfully when taking the screening questionnaire.
COVID-19 screening will be done for patients for any follow up appointments, until such time we are no longer required to do so. Amanda and I will also fill out the screening questionnaire and assess for symptoms before every work day. If conditions change for you, the patient, or Amanda and I, treatments will be cancelled. At this time, any cancellation fee associated with that will be waived.
The day of your appointment we ask that you wait in your car and we can call or come get you when it’s time for your appointment. We don’t want people waiting in our office waiting area and will bring you into the office once it is time for your treatment.
We will reassess you for symptoms again prior to your appointment and have a consent sheet for you to read over and sign.
We ask that only the person coming for the treatment be here. Adults accompanying minors or those that need assistance are exceptions, however, the accompanying visitor will also be screened prior to the patient’s appointment. They will also need to provide their name and phone number for contact tracing purposes, as per the Ministry of Health. The visitor will also be required to sanitize their hands when entering and exiting our clinic and to wear a disposable or reusable mask.
During your visit Amanda and I will be wearing medical face masks . You may also see us sporting gloves and a face shield.
After your treatment we will meet you at the front desk where we will set up your next appointment and accept payment. We will have our face mask on and ask that you keep yours on as well during this process.
Don’t be alarmed if we follow you out of the clinic, we want to ensure that we wipe down all surfaces touched on the way out for everyone’s safety.
We will continue to practice our regular cleaning procedures and adding enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols for safety. This means that highly touched surface areas (including, but not limited to, chairs/stools, light switches, door knobs, desk tops, debit machine, treatment room equipment) will be cleaned and disinfected in-between each patient visit as well as at the start and end of each work day. All linens used, as usual, will be laundered after every use.
We understand that these are unprecedented times and while we are slowly starting to get back to some semblance of normalcy, we proceed with caution. While we will do our very best to implement all protocols set out by our governing bodies as well as the Ministry of Health to ensure our space is safe, we all have to be mindful that COVID-19 is still around and there are risks associated with that. If we feel like the risk of a treatment to you outweighs the benefits, we will not proceed with the treatment. Your safety, as well as ours and our families, and that of everyone we see is very important to us and we won’t risk that.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
